Milburngate, Durham

Following a design competition in 2005 Circle Red Properties were selected as preferred developer by Durham City Council to develop a mixed use scheme on this prominent city centre site. A planning application has subsequently been submitted for a 30,000 sqft scheme, which will incorporate restaurant, retail and student accommodation uses over 5 storeys.

Circle Red Properties and architects Chipchase Associates Limited have worked closely with Durham City Council and English Heritage in order to develop a scheme sympathetic with the sites setting in a conservation area and adjacent to a Grade 2* listed building and a world heritage site.

It is anticipated the scheme will go before the planning committee in summer 2008.
